Peruvian agribusinesses fund expansion
Two Peruvian agribusiness companies belonging to local conglomerate Migiva Group have hired Holland & Knight LLP in New York and Rebaza, Alcázar & De Las Casas in Lima to obtain a loan worth US$53 million.
The lender, Metropolitan Insurance Life, enlisted Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (Peru) for the deal, which closed on 9 January. US law firm Landay Leblang Stern LLP is also thought to have helped the lender, but it did not reply prior to publication.
The two borrowers, Ozblu Perú and Agrícola Andrea, obtained US$29 million and US$24 million respectively of the credit facility.
The companies will use the loan to pay for other debt and make investments to expand their businesses. Ozblu focuses on blueberry production, while Agrícola Andrea produces a range of fruits, as well as asparagus and pecans.
