Liat Tapia

Associate / Chile

Member of the Dispute Resolution area. Her professional practice focuses mainly in international arbitration. Liat´s experience extends to both international commercial and investment disputes in a broad range of sectors, including mining, construction, renewable energy, electrical power, finance sector and public works. Her recent experience includes representing an electricity utility company in an investment treaty arbitration against a Latin American State, arising from the Government’s decision to seize and liquidate a local power company. Liat has also acted as secretary to arbitral tribunals, advising clients to prevent disputes in pre-arbitration stages and settling disputes once the arbitration has begun, and enforcing awards in domestic courts. Prior rejoining PPU in 2019, Liat worked in the London office of Three Crowns.

Liat was elected as LLM Representative of the Columbia International Arbitration Association.
