Grupo Energía Bogotá buys Peruvian power supplier

Corporate / M&A

Colombia’s Grupo Energía Bogotá (GEB) has hired Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (Colombia) and Rubio Leguía Normand in Lima to buy Peruvian power distributor Electro Dunas Energía through a tender offer.

The seller, US fund manager Blue Water, hired Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York and Peruvian firms Santiváñez Abogados and Zuzunaga, Assereto & Zegarra Abogados. The latter advised on tax matters. The deal closed on 9 August.

The tender offer took place on the Lima Stock Exchange, where Electro Dunas is listed. GEB bought all the company’s shares. The deal’s value is confidential.

Electro Dunas distributes power primarily in the Ica region, south of Lima, but also in the nearby Huancavelica and Ayacucho regions. It supplies some 240,000 customers.
